Our History

In 2015, Alabama Exposure and Direction Galvanizing Excellence“ (Alabama EDGE, Inc) began as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based out of the fellowship hall of First Missionary Baptist Church (Prattville, AL). There, we ran a free academic tutoring service called Circle of Champions Tutoring for students of the Autauga County School System. Under the leadership of Carolyn Berry and Clarence “Trey” Sutton, III, Circle of Champions Tutoring logged over 1,000 hours of volunteer tutoring and mentoring in two years.

In 2018, Alabama EDGE began what would become its signature program, XMAN Performance and Development, specifically customized for student athletes and school teams from disconnected communities. Since our first class in 2018, we’ve sponsored trips, meals, sports camps, career visits, and character development opportunities for student athletes from 26 schools representing 10 school systems within the state of Alabama. In 2022, XMAN officially became the premiere program of Alabama EDGE, Inc.
